Winter Planting

Our Enviro Group meets every Tuesday afternoon. We have dedicated members from Year 1 - Year 6 who enjoy learning about the natural world and how they can make a difference to attitudes around caring for the planet.

On the 24th April Mrs Graham and Ms McMillan had a working bee in the Envirogarden to plant veges for the winter.  The children had a discussion about which veges we could plant and why. They also talked about what it means for veges and fruit to be 'fresh'.

The Year 1,2 and 3 group members planted their own bean seed in a 'jiffy' pot to raise in the classroom.

We hope to grow these into strong healthy plants on the windowsills until they are big enough to put outside or transfer to the greenhouse.

Year 3,4,5 and 6 members weeded the vege gardens and planted new seedlings for the winter crop.
