Peace Day 2014

On 8th August Tirimoana commemorated Peace Week. Every year, during this week in August we think about the terrible events of World War Two with the dropping of atomic bombs on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan.

We gathered as a school on the court by the flagpoles and sang  our National Anthem. Mrs Parkes had organised a huge, white helium balloon and she had attached a kete filled with peace messages from every class in the school.

We released the balloon into the sky and it sailed away....

We all wondered where it would end up and what adventures the balloon and kete would have.

At our assembly many classes had items to share. It was a wonderful day!
